Sleep

Rest and recovery at www.indoorcycleinstructor.comThis topic is fascinating to me and now that there is a way to measure it, I see it as part of Indoor Cycling 2.0 – the transition from entertainment based exercise to results driven training! The difference between them is one is completely random and unmeasured, the other specific and measurable.

Think about all the different things we can measure and test:  -let me know if I’m missing anything.

  • Weights/Reps
  • Using a Heart Rate monitor, Aerobic and Anaerobic or Lactate threshold
  • Metabolic Assessment
  • Calories Consumed / Expended
  • Power – Watts
  • 5K / 10K – Bike average Speed in a race
  • Then why not the quantity and quality of the sleep you get?

Improvements in fitness come from creating stress on your body and then letting it recover (rest). So why wouldn’t you want to measure how effective the recovery part of your training is?

I’m going to be diving into this so stay tuned :)
