Drama, brawls and in-fighting make this Tour de France exciting in more ways than just racing!

I’ve got a great new resource for you that I just found out about. It’s called Velo Center on Competitor.tv. Here, they discuss what happened on the Port de Bales in Stage 15 where Andy Schleck lost his chain and Alberto Contador shot ahead. I’ll let you make your own decisions and judgments as to what Contador should have done. You know mine! ;-) (From yesterday’s post)

This has been a fascinating Tour, for more reasons than just the close and dramatic competition. Did you see this video of two riders fighting, one taking his front wheel and hitting the other over the head? How would you like to be a fan standing there watching this? It’s hard to believe these riders were only fined, yet Renshaw was expelled for his aggressive riding in a sprint. The latter is not good, but it’s racing and it happens. Hitting another rider with a wheel is not racing – it’s pure aggression. One of these riders,Barredo, had a courageous solo break today and very nearly won the stage, but was caught in the final kilometer by Lance Armstrong’s chase group. In a bit of irony, Barredo was awarded the “most aggressive” rider award. Poor Lance, he tried like heck to win, but just ran out of gas at the very end, coming in 6th. I think that was his last chance to win a stage.[The continuation of this post is available for ICI/PRO Members only. Please Log-in or Subscribe with our One Dollar Trial to enjoy the rest.]
