How I taught Stage 17

This morning was my fantasy version of Stage 17. It went GREAT! My students loved it, I had a great time teaching it, and I even videoed it for future use for ICI/PRO members. I released the audio version of this PROfile on the weekend (for ICI/PRO members), but because of the incredible drama taking place in this year’s Tour de France, I knew I’d be updating it here.

As promised, I have some updates. If you are teaching this after the actual race however, it may indeed be among the most exciting stages at the Tour de France ever, and you won’t need me to give you a screenplay – just watch the race on TV (especially the final 30-45 minutes) and write down the thrilling things that the announcers say about what is happening and how the riders motivate themselves. (But I would still use the unique way to describe the stage as presented in the audio PROfile). Some cycling pundits are describing this stage as one of the most epic battles to be played out in the Tour in many years; some say even greater than many of Lance Armstrong’s battles (although 2003 has to be up there in the epicness category).
