2009 Indoor Cycle Instructor Survey

2009 Indoor Cycle Instructor Survey

OK, so tell me, what am I missing?

I’m less than 2 months away from the first anniversary (August 15th) of the Indoor Cycle Instructor Podcast. I’m planning some major changes to both the indoorcycleinstructor.com web site and the Podcast to reflect the transition to Indoor Cycling 2.0.
My intent is to make the site easier to use and invite contributors to submit articles to the Blog. I'm also planning to include much more usable / actionable information on the Podcast. That's where I need your help.

I created this survey to help me understand more about you, what you are looking for and most importantly, what am I missing?

Did I mention that there is a potential PRIZE for completing this survey? For every 100 completed surveys, I'm drawing for a set of Global Ride Indoor Cycling DVDs, courtesy of Global Ride Video Productions. Just enter your email address at the beginning of the survey. No, I will not share it with anyone! It will only be used to draw the winners.

The information you provide will be very valuable and will help me develop the content for my second year!

Your responses are all optional and you can remain anonymous if you like.

I have grouped the questions in a number of categories:
#1 About You
#2 Your Experience & Certification
#3 Your Club
#4 Your Class
#5 Your Participants
#6 Your Level of Satisfaction with the Podcast and Blog
#7 Suggestions and comments

I will be collecting responses until July 4h 2009.
Please feel free to forward this to any of your instructor friends.

Les Mills RPM Instructor Gary Leeman in Amman Jordan!

Listener and instructor Gary Leeman on the indoor cycle instructor podcast

Too late to win my “most remote listener” contest but I wanted to get him on the site because they have a very cool studio. Wouldn't you feel very special teaching with all those lights?

Gary is the Group Exercise Manager for Fitness-First Middle East. They currently have two clubs in Amman Jordan with a third on the way.

Most Remote Listener Contest Winner

Most remote spinning instructor on www.indoorcycleinstructor.comCongratulations to contest winner Judith Buckley!

Judith is a Spinning Instructor in Saudi Arabia where her husband maintains fighter jets for the Saudi Air Force! She wins a set of epicRIDES DVDs, courtesy of www.epicplanet.tv

I'm planning to interview Judith in the very near future. I'm very interested in hearing about the unique challenges faced by an instructor in a country that puts such severe limits on women. Here is an article from Reuters she passed on to me that illustrates what women in places like this face. Saudi Arabia clamps down on unlicensed female gyms

Podcast Audience Up 22 Percent From Last Year

I saw this over at http://www.podcastingnews.com  and thought, “I must be on to something!”

Edison Research today released their annual joint study, with Arbitron, of Americans’ radio consumption habits – and it shows that podcasting continues its steady, unrelenting growth.

According to the report, the podcast audience has grown by 22% since last year, expanding from 18% of all Americans in 2008 to 22% in 2009.

Edison’s study, “The Infinite Dial 2009” (pdf) details how we listen (and, with online video, how we watch) to online radio offerings, including podcasts.
