Here is a refreshing bit of good news: two employees of the Santa Monica Spectrum Athletic club's quick action and an AED saved the life of a participant who was having a heart attack during a class last week. Although they don't identify Tracy Smith as the Instructor in the class, based on her interview in this video I'm guessing that she was. Tracy, along with another employee Amaud Mitchell quickly performed CPR and then administered the AED, saving the man's life. Hats off to both of you:)
If you commented between Friday evening and mid-day Saturday and now can't find you comment, I apologize.
We moved the website to a new hosting server over the weekend. The process requires copying the entire site to it's new home and then changing some settings on the Internet that decide which server you see when you go to www.indoorcycleinstructor.com. During the move there was a period where, depending where you are located in the world, you continued to see and comment on the old site. Despite our best efforts to complete the move in as quickly as possible, there were some delays and unfortunately there is no way to recover the lost comments 🙁
I'm in Boston this week meeting with a number of ICI/PRO Team members. On Wednesday I met with Tom Scotto and we recorded this short video. Later that evening I had the privilege of participating in his Cadence Builder class. While I was there I taped the entire class and will be publishing it this weekend for our ICI/PRO members.
I have added the Month and Day back to the post headings. We had removed them as a sort of experiment, but received a number of complaints, so they're back. The idea was because much of what is published here is timeless, it didn't make sense to date it. The Blog format of this site works well for a continous flow of new articles and content, but I didn't realize that many of you use the date listing to help understand some of the context of what they are reading.
We are in the process of reviewing how everything is organised here and I would love to know your ideas for making indoorcycleinstructor.com easier to use.
Do you have a practiced introduction that you deliver at the beginning of every class? When Amy and I first met Kenji Freedman he impressed us as an Instructor the minute he started his class.
USA Elite Cycling Coach Kenji has all the qualifications necessary to help you improve your craft as a Spinning Indoor Cycling Instructor – Kenji prefers Coach – because that's really want we are 🙂
This is a shortened version of the complete interview I did with Kenji. ICI/PRO members can access Podcast #144 which includes the complete interview where we discuss how he see all of our roles as a Coach, Indoors and Out.
