There are some very talented DJ's on SoundCloud! My classes have especially been enjoying the mash ups I've been using lately. It blows my mind how these guys can hear how two or more songs can possibly blend together so well!
This week brings us a 66 bpm, 3:35 climb, blending two of my favorite artists: Bryan Adams and Metallica…I know- I would've never put those two together either!
I've been using this tune in the last third of our ride to push intensity before cool down.
Here is Wax Audio's ‘Enter You' and the free SoundCloud download:
A cadence build climb, broken into three parts is included in my latest profile. The first four minute portion of the cadence build is at 62 rpms's. It's here that everyone sets their load to a challenging, but doable load. The next four minutes is at a cadence of 68- no touching load- so power output goes up! The last 4:15 is at a cadence of 72 and where our Free Music Friday helps us bust a move and put up big watt numbers!
Have you been enjoying DJ Peter Gonzalez? Whenever I use his mashed tunes, my classes love it! He does such a good job of mixing and matching seamlessly and today's tune is no exception.
Enjoy ‘MashUptight'- a remix of Guns & Roses vs. Stevie Wonder.
Turning the tables a little bit this week. The owners of the cycle studio where I teach on Monday's and Friday's: http://cyclequeststudio.com/ are awesome! Patti (Joe's wife) pops into my class whenever she can and loves rock music. In an effort to ‘keep the boss happy' I try to incorporate a couple rock tunes into each of my profiles.
I'm starting to like ‘grunge' rock a bit myself.
This week's tune is not new, but it's really good- from a Seattle based American rock band founded in 1984.
It's a hard driving flat (heavy on the bass) at 93 rpm's and 4:07.
John emailed me yesterday and said, ‘What about this song????' and I replied, ‘I love it….been using it in my profile for the last 3 months!' and he said, ‘Of course you have..'
It's a great climb at 62 rpm's with a feel good background rhythm from this unsuspecting Norwegian songwriting duo. I've been using it early on in the ride, as we head into our first threshold and establish that as our base for riding and commit to never dropping below it for the rest of our ride together.
Every once in awhile a really good person comes along in our industry that gives more than they receive. That's who is providing our Free Music Friday selection, and in fact a HUGE selection!
I found out about him on the Indoor Cycling Instructors Facebook Group. He remixes other DJ's mixes to make them more ‘cycle friendly' and he does it so well because he's an instructor himself.
I've been mixing in 3-4 of his mashes in each of my classes and without fail they say, “Great music!”
