A very Happy 4th to everyone! John and I will be mastering the art of Paddle Boarding later today. I figured this was the best time to learn- the water is so high here in MN there is a ‘no wake' enforcement on the lakes :). If we can't learn in a no wake zone, we never will! I'm sure John will be posting some exceptionally flattering pictures of me.
Today's music selection is credited to Sara Spigler Pomish from the Facebook indoor cycling instructors group. I haven't been using much house music lately, so my class loved this. It starts out very ‘tribal' with percussion and then turns into a blistering climb at 65 bpm and the free download is 4:36.
Here is the English Electronic music group Fluke with ‘Zion':
I wouldn't begin to say you haven't heard of this fabulous artist, but just in case, I wanted you to experience him. This is a great climb at 69 rpm's and 3 minutes 14 seconds.
I've been coaching the whole thing out of the saddle- just up and out and go!
This guy is a 22 year old Brit! No wonder he's on the top of the chart there (I always scope the top of the Spotify chart in the US and the UK). My oldest daughter, Abby, said, “Mom, you gotta check this new guy out- he's really good.” I'm feeling pretty awesome (and young-ish?) that I already had him firmly embedded in my playlist.
John gave me the nicest present for my birthday back in March- a 60 minute massage and mini-facial. I ‘cashed in' last weekend and really enjoyed my experience.
I had my mini facial first. My aesthetician was terrific and was a wealth of information! I expressed my discontent with adult onset acne and she shared a homeopathic remedy that I must share with you!
Super cheap and effective- a paste of cinnamon and water- place it on any blemish two to three times the first day it erupts and shazam…..it ‘either comes to a head, or disappears.'.
I gave it a try this week, and it worked! My ‘undergrounder came to a head and disappeared within a day. It was awesome. Yay. No retail purchase needed.
I applied the paste three times throughout an 8 hour day.
If you give it a try, please let me know how it works for you :).
By the way-the massage that followed was the best I've ever had! Thank you John Macgowan.

This group was formed in 2002 at Wesleyan University and has a psychedelic rock feel. The original version gives way to a grinding climb at 56 rpm's. It reminds me of a 70's tune (psychedelic alright!) with a modern feel. We've been grinding it out for 5:27 toward the end of our ride and I've been coaching the group to ‘let it go', or as the song says, ‘Do what you feel now….'
My youngest daughter, Carly, is home from college for the summer. She smelled really good the other day. So good in fact, I asked her what she was wearing. Imagine my surprise when she told me it was her self tanner!
Usually known for their pungent smell and sticky feel, self-tanners are not my favorite lotion / potion. I only use them for the color they give and sins they hide! 🙂
Carly found Nip + Fab 365 Body Glow Clear Tanning Gel Medium on clearance at Ulta for $2.49, but it's still a steal at the regular price of $9.99. (Ulta no longer carries it, but Walgreen's does).
I'm not sure what makes it smell SO much better then any of the other (much more expensive) self-tanners out there, but something in it does the trick.
The color and wearability is every bit as good as the more expensive brands. I'm a fan and have a new favorite self-tanner I feel like I can wear out in public and not get dirty looks for how terrible I smell!
