Awesome track

Deezer for cycling and training class music
I've been trying to find a movie for “date night” and heard this awesome track from Snow Patrol I wanted to share with you. It's from the movie Epic. Not right for movie night, but looks cool for a Red Box rental in the future.

Recently released Snow Patrol — The Lightning Strike (What If This Storm Ends?) builds in a way that communicates an Epic climb @ 79 rpm and screams; “TURN IT UP!” as the music does all the cuing for you.

Big gear. Big pedals. It could have easily been the soundtrack for Peter Kennaugh's huge effort in the Tour today, chasing down the break over the top of Port de Pailhères and then dragging team leader (and stage winner) Chris Froome down the back side. At times he simply rode away from everyone, even his own team. I had the privilege of interviewing his father Peter Kennaugh Sr. back on Podcast #234 and I'm sure this was a proud day for him – although Jr's winning a gold medal at last year's Olympics was probably a special day for any father who's also an accomplished cycling coach.

You can get this track in Deezer.

Our Free Podcasts are back in iTunes

The Indoor Cycle Instructor Podcast is back in iTunesThis email from Apple was a pleasant surprise. The Indoor Cycle Instructor Podcast is back and updating in the iTunes store!!

Near as I can tell, the last time iTunes updated with new episodes was late May – after a dozen or so emails they've finally responded and made the needed correction.

You'll notice that the free feed now contains all of our past 135+ episodes – so if you're a new subscriber you have some listening to do.

Now if I can figure out what's causing the episodes to display out of order, my life's work will be complete.

UPDATE: 7/4/2013 if you refresh the Podcast listing in iTunes you'll (hopefully) now see everything in order 🙂

The Eagles are on Spotify!

the_eagles_background_wallpaper-800x600

How is it that these ancient rock stars have 20 year old hair? Just asking…

Last week there were a bunch of notifications that Spotify now offers what looks like the whole catalog of Eagles music – or at least all the well known tracks.

Being of that 70's vintage, I don't remember being very focused on the Eagles… they were just always there on the album rock stations I would typically listen to. Even though I had multiple chances to see them live, I never did. Better to save my money for the next time Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Elvis Costello, The Cars or (I hate to admit) Kiss came to town.

But as I revisit many of the Eagles hits, I'm struck with how many I can sing privately along with. Last winter my buddy Craig borrowed me his DVD of the The Eagles – Farewell 1 Tour – Live From Melbourne These guys are/were supremely talented and this concert makes for a great two hour endurance class. You can get that DVD shipped free from Amazon with the 30 day free trial for Amazon Prime they are promoting for the month of July. I've posted before how Prime has changed my life by saving me untold time and stress. Just yesterday I found myself thinking I needed to drive across town to get a part for my kid's Honda scooter. But caught myself and instead I did the one-click thing with Prime and I'll have it tomorrow for less than what the dealer would charge and zero shipping or wasted time.

Here's my John's Eagles to use playlist of future Eagles tracks I intend to use in the future. It includes;

I've got a women in a Wednesday class I've been subbing for the last month. She walks in 10 minutes late, with her hands covering her ears, complaining about the music volume. I don't normally play my class very loud, but today I just may with Eagles — Victim Of Love cued up and ready for her to waltz in 🙂

ICI Podcast 271 Bringing the class to them with Outburst Mobile Fitness

Mobile Fitness cycling Studio

Many new businesses are based on creative solutions to identifiable problems. In this earlier post, I discussed entrepreneur Kat Filly Brown and her goal to find a convenient way for employees to exercise midday, while avoiding the hassles of California traffic.

Outburst Mobile Fitness is a self-contained studio that delivers classes to corporate customers in and around the San Francisco Bay area. They pull up in this big fancy rig and hold Indoor Cycling classes right there in the parking lot.

Kat Filley Brown joins me to discuss her new Indoor Cycling business on wheels on the latest episode of the Indoor Cycle Instructor Podcast to discuss her business model, her choice of Indoor Cycles and the opportunities she has for Indoor Cycling Instructors – especially if you have experience driving a 5th wheel commercial vehicle 🙂

Listen to my interview with Kat below.
