We are very excited to have Keiser Master Instructor Karen Lanman as a presenter at the conference this year. Karen will be presenting two sessions that you can look forward to: Powered Up:
Are you ready to power up your indoor cycling classes? By understanding how to utilize power measurements in your class, you can help your students understand how hard they should be working and when. In this class you will experience drills specifically designed to be used with power. You can then incorporate these ideas by instructing your students to use speed, resistance and intensity to power-up your next indoor cycling class.
Geared Up:
This action-packed class will utilize numerous cycle training techniques taken straight off the road and into your classroom. Ride away with a stronger understanding and how-to application of cycling elements such as time trialing, drafting, pedal stroke and more. Connect your cycling experience to the world of outdoor cycling, bringing your indoor cycling experience to a whole new level.
Allen Jones from EpicPlanet.tv Indoor Cycling DVDs is in town this weekend to film Amy and me on an Epic Ride! This will be the first Epic Tandem ride and will feature us riding “The Bus” – our Trek Tandem. We will be riding with our friends Tony and Jean who are a very accomplished Tandem pair.
Our ride begins in the historic Mississippi river town of Red Wing, MN. We will be riding east across the river and then follow the river south on the Wisconsin side with great views of the river bluffs and Lake Pepin.
For you music history buffs, our route takes us through the little town of Bay City, WI which (at least by my understanding) was where the dart landed on the map, thrown by a member of Scottish Pop Band The Saxons, giving them their new name – The Bay City Rollers.
The ride ends with a particularly nasty climb up the side of the bluff to a fantastic location looking out over the river valley. This Map shows our journey.
You may have noticed that indoorcycleinstructor.com was getting a little slower to load and refresh. I did and it didn't make me happy đ
So, in my relentless pursuit to keep ICI/PRO as the ultimate independent resource for Indoor Cycling Instructors, I spent the better half of yesterday doing something to get back in shape.
My team and I completed some extensive database upgrades over the weekend and you should see much faster access to the 900+ pages of articles, Podcasts, Audio PROfiles and videos we have to offer.
If you visited here Sunday afternoon and saw anything strange, that's why.
Andrew Clayton over at Pedal Studio in the UK ask me to promote SpinningŽ for our heroes, which is a huge fundraiser for injured UK soldiers that features a number of Spinning Master Instructors including Mark Tickner and Michelle Colvin (links go to their Podcast interviews)

YouââŹâ˘ll be able to measure your efforts with MYZONE- a brand new state of the art telemetry system utilizing your heart rate.
50 minute classes will be running from 11am to 7pm in Montgomery Square, right in the heart of Canary Wharf.
Nuffield Health is proud to support this important cause in aid of our wounded soldiers and look forward to seeing you there.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
It's official – AFAA CEU's will be available at the ICI/PRO Conference!
Dear Continuing Education Provider:
Congratulations! You have been accepted as a 2011 AFAA Authorized Continuing Education Provider. Your professionalism and educational programs will enable AFAA certiĂŻÂŹÂed instructors to earn quality continuing education units through the AFAA Provider Program.
In a typical fitness conference “sponsorship”, Company A pays Event Promoter B a bunch of money to to be part of the event. That sounds good, but if you have been following us for any length of time you know that we don't always do what's “typical” here at ICI/PRO.
So when Chuck Cali from Zoning Fitness offered to become a sponsor of this year's conference I said; “only if your sponsorship will add value to the Instructors who attend!”
Chuck's response was “how about if we give the next 75 Instructors* who register a free $80.00 Blink Heart Rate Monitor?”
I love my Blink and see it as an excellent choice for the Club Athletes we teach each week. It's the perfect companion to the 2 Threshold / 3 Zone Heart Rate system we have been talking about.
