Spinning Indoor Cycling Studio Body Cycle Studio in Be Well Philly

I met PRO Member Russell Carter at this year's conference as he was getting to open his new Body Cycle Studio – Indoor Cycling Studio in Philadelphia PA. He had been working with Bill Pryor on the business planning and was at the conference to brush up on his teaching skills in preparation for his new studio.

This is a great example of how you can convert a relatively small, downtown space into a beautiful studio. Follow the link to see the pictures of the studio.

Here is the Philadelphia Magazine feature about Russell and his studio for their Be Well Philly community section.

ICI/Podcast 128 Introducing Threshold Field Testing to your class with Karen Bernardo

Threshold Heart Rate Spinning Instructor Training Program

Working'em at Threshold!

ICI/PRO Member Karen Bernardo is the owner of Carpe Diem Fitness and Wellness in Mississauga, Ontario Canada. Karen taught a Threshold Field Test with great success in her Indoor Cycling class. When she sent us an email describing the full classes she had and how helpful it was to her students, our first thought was; “we need to have her on the Podcast”

Do you have video in your studio? Here are two great videos for running a 20 minute field test for FTP or threshold Heart Rate.

So here is Karen explaining exactly what she did and how she did it.

Technical issues make this episode unavailable – sorry.

Direct from IDEA

WOW! What an exhausting (but fun and productive) week at the IDEA fitness conference in LA. There is so much I want to share with everyone and I hope to post as much as possible over the next week or so. I'll start with the best part, meeting some ICI/PRO members who were attending!

Darlene Levin and John Macgowan at IDEA

I met Darlene Levin on Friday and we had a fun conversation until she was distracted by another John. Then I got to play photographer.

Then on Saturday I met Kerri Fleisher just before taking a CycleOps Threshold class. Kerri is from Las Vegas and she showed me some of the very cool class videos she makes using clips from Music Videos. She then shows them using her iPad. I need one of those… Kerri also showed me some video clips of indoor cycling classes she does with very young athletes. If we can make it happen I would love to have her on the Podcast to talk more about it.

We love getting emails from listeners!

This is so awesome!

Dear John!

I am a new listener to your ICI Podcast. I am from Budapest, Hungary – Europe. I have just downloaded all of the episodes to my iPod and listening to it while I am typing this e-mail. I am not new to Indoor cycling / Spinning cause I started the Spinning exercise three years ago. By the end of this August I am going to start my Spinning Instructor Class in Budapest for the STAR1 level. So this is why my attention turned towards your https://www.indoorcycleinstructor.com/ website. I just wanted to drop you a line and say hello and give you a feedback that there is a listener in Budapest as well 🙂

Thanks for your hard work!

Best Regards,
Laszlo J.Kremmer

ICI/PRO Member Story

ICI/PRO Member Kathy Ehrlich-Scheffer shared this story with me and I felt it would be an inspiration to to others wanting to make the move to riding outdoors.
Jennifer & John,

Yesterday I took part in my first century, completing 80 of the 100 miles! I'm very proud of my effort, even though I didn't end up finishing this one… I gleaned so much information by being out there on the road and I already know some adjustments to make in order to be better prepared next year. I definitely felt my “new-ness” of being on the road. I just began training outside a couple months ago for the first time ever, overcoming a rather large intimidation of my very responsive road bike and using clipless pedals outside.

My training was not without its hiccups.
