I'm writing this week from the beautiful island of Jamaica where I'm teaching classes as part of Fit Bodies Teaching Vacations. If you aren't familiar, John has some great information about it in this post. I'm already half way through my vacation and having a fabulous time teaching cycling and enjoying the resort and my amazing hosts here at Couples Tower Isle.
In preparation for my classes that I'm teaching here, I decided to throw in some “Jamaican” themed tunes into each of my playlists. Here is a sampling. Both have a great sound and would make a welcome addition to any playlist:

I came across this brand new release while searching today's new music on Spotify and iTunes. I can tell from first listen that this is a tune I will be using soon. I am a huge fan of Mumford and Sons but I have to admit, other than Believe, I wasn't impressed with their latest album, so this was a welcome surprise. It may not be the kind of sound you are used to using in your classes, but give it a try. I'm always experimenting with new sounds and my classes never complain. 🙂 I'm sure they're going to love this one. I'll be using it as a steady climb with a cadence increase at the 2:30 mark when the tempo starts to pick up.
Afro Celt Sound System, as the name implies, fuses Irish and West African music with electronic dance music. I brought back one of my old favorites from their 1999 album Volume 2 Release (Real World Gold) this week. I used it in an interval class and included a seated fast flat road and a standing flat road. At around 67 rpm's, you could certainly use it as a hill as well. I've also included this one in my St. Patrick's Day playlists in the past, because it has a celtic feel to it for sure. If you're looking for a unique, instrumental sound, definitely check this one out.
