From New York, this Indie Band delivers a great 3:37 interactive/current/big-band/call-out/all around great motivating climb tune. My class is enjoying the different aspects of “Nice Guys Finish Last” by Cobra Starship.

An intense, moving climb at 64 rpm’s and 4:21, is this week’s FF. It is great to use at the end of the ride, before cool down, for intense focus. The music also phrases well to allow us as instructors to cue our students to remember to breathe efficiently. You may recognize this artist from his most popular single “Anytime”. Brian McKnight, from his “Evolution of a Man” album rocks it out in his normal R & B way in “I Betcha Neva”.

Slowly but surely, Spotify is catching on within the Master Instructor community. And with good reason. There isn't any better way to share music playlists.
I'm sure I'm not alone in asking for a playlist at the end of a training – which I'm sure can be a lot of extra work for a MI. Now all they need to say is “friend me on Facebook and you will find my profile in the People section of Spotify.”

I absolutely have to thank one of my dearest friends, co-instructor and ICI member, Jana, for this week’s Friday Favorite. We both love Jamaica, and a little “Reggae” jive. We were together this week and discussing music. She has been using this fabulous tune from an American Jewish singer/songwriter for a cool down and her classes have been loving it. I do too! Check out Elan Atias and “Step Into the Sunshine” from his “We Are” CD. It is really good stuff – I love the refrain “If you don't try, the Sun's not going to shine”. It could also make a fun flat (or steady climb) at 85 bpm.

Note from John: Lots of Reggae music falls in that perfect, steady climb cadence in the low 80s RPM. I like to use a little Reggae during my 90 minute endurance classes… especially when I'm back from Jamaica and I still have the rhythm bouncing around my head. Here's a suggestion for your next endurance class, as the free track. Enjoy 🙂

Hi John,
I thought you might be interested in the following and if possible help to spread the word to promote this song about Rob Wein.
Rob is one of the Kanata 5, one of five cyclists involved in a terrible accident when they were hit from behind by a distracted driver.
Of the five, Rob was hurt the worst, and he will never recover to the where he was before the incident, and will always suffer from double vision, short term memory loss.
His family and friend were told that he would never leave his hospital bed. So sure were the doctors of this, that they didn't fully fix and repair his damaged legs when he was brought into the hospital.
With the help, love and support of his partner, family and friends he proved them wrong. When he was told he would never be able to stand he got a personal trainer who works with him every week, and now he is preparing and training for the Ottawa Race weekend 5km walking event.
Rob was interviewed by CBC Radio and with a pair of musicians a song was written about his struggles. That song ‘Nobody Knows‘ is out on iTunes and all funds raised are being directed to the Share The Road organization
I am hoping that you can spread word about this song and encourage other to purchase it for a worthy cause, there is also a video of the song up on YouTube if you would like to post on your site.
