When ICI/PRO member Kerri Fleisher showed me this video of her Kids Cycle class it was hard not to think “she may be on to something here…” I'm sure some will question the safety of small people on big bikes and I asked her about it. Kerri responded with …
Safety is number one with me!! (Fun is number two!). I have my own kid in there! I would NEVER put a child on a bike unless I was 100% sure they were safe, and if I sense they are getting tired and losing form, I make them take a break. I teach 100% off the bike so I can give my undivided attention to the kids!
Amy and I would have jumped at the chance to have our two girls participate in this class, when they were that age. It's sad that we have blocked kids from enjoying this form of exercise.
So what would happen if there were Kid Sized Indoor Cycles? That fit them properly … With some fun music, like Kerri uses … And fun programing?
Watch the video and post a comment about how you could make this happen in your club or studio if you had the proper equipment.
I sold products like this to utilities and contractors
Today marks my entrance to the ranks of the self-employed. I haven't talked about it much, but like many Indoor Cycling Instructors I had a day job. Mine for the past 20+ years was managing a sales territory, for a distributor of underground construction equipment, as a commissioned sales rep. With the economy showing no real signs of recovering and businesses still not having the confidence to invest in capital equipment, the owner of the company and I decided to part ways (although there wasn't much to part from).
Amy and I want to thank all our supporting ICI/PRO members for helping us soften the transition to working for myself 🙂
OK. NPR does this… so why can't I?
If you been toying with joining us as an ICI/PRO member, and supporting what we do here at www.indoorcycleinstructor.com, we would appreciate you showing your support as we continue to grow our community. Join as a Monthly or Annual ICI/PRO Member here.
Amy (the Senior Group Fitness Instructor) was on her way home Friday when the person behind her missed her cueing (brake lights) and hit her at speed. She was pretty beat up and after a few hours getting checked out at the ER she looks to be OK. My big takeaway from all of this is how precious our friends and family are and how much I love my wife.
I'm upgrading to a new email system this week. I don't anticipate any problems but you never can tell about the Matrix* The old system we used had some limitations that didn't allow me to separate ICI/PRO Members from everyone else. I'm converting to MailChimp which is very cool and somewhat more user friendly. If you have a small (less than 1,000 subscribers) email list it's completely free to use.
Managing our big list costs us $600.00 a year so I hope you appreciate each and every email we send you 🙂
Speaking of email… we send out an email update every Sunday night. If you aren't receiving it, it's probably in your Spam filter. I can't fix that for you, only you can. Adding john@indoorcycleinstructor.com to your list of contacts should fix that for you.
Danny MacAskill is simply amazing to watch ride a bicycle. This previous video of him has over 22 million hits. If you want a few minutes of escape you will enjoy watching him ride in some very interesting places, many of which appear to be WWII ruins. I do have a question for all you techies; how do I get this in a format where I can show it to my class?
