This email from Apple was a pleasant surprise. The Indoor Cycle Instructor Podcast is back and updating in the iTunes store!!
Near as I can tell, the last time iTunes updated with new episodes was late May – after a dozen or so emails they've finally responded and made the needed correction.
You'll notice that the free feed now contains all of our past 135+ episodes – so if you're a new subscriber you have some listening to do.
Now if I can figure out what's causing the episodes to display out of order, my life's work will be complete.
UPDATE: 7/4/2013 if you refresh the Podcast listing in iTunes you'll (hopefully) now see everything in order đ
Many new businesses are based on creative solutions to identifiable problems. In this earlier post, I discussed entrepreneur Kat Filly Brown and her goal to find a convenient way for employees to exercise midday, while avoiding the hassles of California traffic.
Outburst Mobile Fitness is a self-contained studio that delivers classes to corporate customers in and around the San Francisco Bay area. They pull up in this big fancy rig and hold Indoor Cycling classes right there in the parking lot.
Kat Filley Brown joins me to discuss her new Indoor Cycling business on wheels on the latest episode of the Indoor Cycle Instructor Podcast to discuss her business model, her choice of Indoor Cycles and the opportunities she has for Indoor Cycling Instructors – especially if you have experience driving a 5th wheel commercial vehicle đ
For the past 4 1/2 years our free Podcast has reliability updated in the iTunes store.
But for some unknown reason it's broken = isn't displaying new episodes and new subscribers aren't getting anything đ
Up till now Apple has been unresponsive in resolving this problem.
ICI/PRO members are not affected by this. Your Member's Only Super Secret iTunes feed contains both the free and premium episodes of the Podcasts. Non-members can subscribe here.
So here's a quick fix to correct this yourself, that should only take you a few seconds/clicks.
In iTunes select; File > Subscribe to a Podcast and Right Click Paste (or Control V works) the new feed address you copied in the box that opens.
Click OK and you'll see the Podcasts + future episodes.
To subscribe using the Podcast app on your device. iPhone/iPad users can get the free Podcast app here. Android users can install this free Podcast app.
Install the Podcast app
Open this email with your device –Â if you haven't already.
Clicking this link on your device should open the Podcast app and ask if you want to subscribe to this Podcast – which of course you do.
Once you've approved it you'll see all of the free podcasts + future episodes will be available !!!
I suggest leaving the old Podcast listing in place for if/when Apple corrects the issue.
Sometimes it's just being in the right place, at the right time to move into a position as Master Trainer for a major Indoor Cycling education company.
OK, maybe you need more than that. Like having a strong passion for fitness, a bicycle racing background and (in this case anyway) an engineering mindset that helps you to understand and then communicate the true value of adding metrics to an Indoor Cycling class.
Dunte joins me to discuss how he got his start with Stages Indoor Cycling and offers his ideas on effectively communicating power training to our students.
Later this week (shooting for Friday) I'll be publishing Dunte's Race of Truth Audio PROfile. We had some audio quality issues with Skype that made take #1 unusable and plan to re-record his profile Wednesday this week.
When should you go hard… and when should you take it easy?
It's a great question. Often our response depends on very subjective feelings = we may think we know, but we really aren't completely sure.
As Jim Karanas pointed out in his Intervals post this week, we are often too focused on the Work component of exercise and not enough on the Recovery.
So how can you know when your body is rested and ready for more work? Athletes have for years used resting heart rate as a measure to understand. If it's elevated above normal maybe it's time to take it easy, or if normal, time to hammer.
My guest today is Simon Wegerif, an expert on HRV and the founder of myithlete.com. Simon feels he has a more scientific method of deciding if & when your body is recovered and ready for more.
ithlete is an application for either iPhones or Androids that measures and tracks Heart Rate Variability (HRT).
We're using a new player now and iPhone & iPad users will now (finally) be able to play the Podcast directly from your device. Yes I realize it's a little ugly, I'm working on getting a better looking version.
Endurance Coach and Author Grant Molyneux joins us to discuss his book Effortless Exercise
and its importance in actually enjoying exercise, while building aerobic fitness & endurance, vs. dreading the thought that it is time to thrash yourself on the bike yet again.
Wouldn't it be fantastic if you felt great every time you exercised â every step of the way? What if you could consistently experience the bliss of the runnerââŹâ˘s high or the flow of a perfect swim stoke and benefit from all the positive health benefits of exercise without any of the downside of pain and injury. Imagine what your life would look like if it became effortless to maintain your ideal weight, play with your kids, climb a mountain or participate in a triathlon on any given day, at any given age.
If you answered a resounding âYes!â then effortless exercise is for you. Whether youââŹâ˘re a beginner or wanting to win an Ironman triathlon, the principles in this book apply to anyone seeking a deeper experience of exercise. Come on a journey into the Zen state of exercise that will transform your training and help you to achieve more with less. The ideas in this book will help you to go within for a deeper, richer experience that creates sustainable fitness and peak athletic performances through meditative flow states. Fundamentally youââŹâ˘ll discover the pleasure of exercise and be drawn to move every day because it feels so good to exercise this way.
I'm curious to hear your responses to this. Grant makes a great point how the pendulum of “conventional thinking” tends to swing back and forth… Long and Slow works best – no, wait. HIT is what will make you fitter, faster & thinner.
