An Indoor Cycle that vibrates?

The powerBIKE™, the world’s first stationary bike with mechanical vibration technology, stimulates active involvement of all the primary cycling muscles, including hamstrings, glutes and quadriceps, while also improving circulation. It’s also great for cardio exercise, to aid weight loss. Your strength and power will improve, your endurance will increase and your times will decrease. It doesn’t get any better than that. For more information, visit www.powerbike.com.

I know that Power Plates are becoming a popular tool for Personal Trainers to use with their clients. And I've been told people are seeing results… once I learn more about this I will report in. In the mean time you can watch this video featuring a Professional cyclist Robert Gesink with the Rabobank team training on the PowerBike.

Life Time Fitness attempts to set another Indoor Cycling Class World Record

life time fitness world record indoor cycling class
Will you be in or around Dallas TX on March 17th? If so, I suggest you make plans to be part of this huge class Life Time Fitness is planning with the intent of breaking their own World Record Indoor Cycling class.

From a Club Industry email:

Life Time Fitness Chanhassen, MN, will attempt to break its Guinness World Record for the largest static cycling class with a Ride of a Lifetime event on March 17 at AT&T Plaza at American Airlines Center in Dallas. The two-hour cycle studio class will be led by Life Time CEO Bahram Akradi and top Life Time cycle instructors, with music spun by Roberto Costa, an internationally renowned DJ. The current record of 1,052 riders was set on March 7, 2010, in Minneapolis.

I recorded this video of the 2010 World Record event where they had 1052 participants.

How about a LIVE Call-In Talk Show about Indoor Cycling?

I've been approached by a Talk Radio Syndication company to create a LIVE version of the Indoor Cycle Instructor Podcast . Their representative asked if you would be interested in a weekly one hour live show, following the traditional Talk Radio format. The show would be streamed live over the Internet, at the same time every week. It would also be available in a Podcast version for those of you who can't listen live.

OK. So this is exciting and flattering, but the thought of doing a live program scares the s**t out of me 🙁

But the more I thought about it and talked it over with Amy, the more it makes sense… after 197 episodes why not try something different?

Like giving you the chance to ask questions and converse with the guests?

Would you listen?

Would you call in and participate in the conversation?

Now this is exciting!

spinner bikes replace with freemotion

Out with the Spinner NXTs and in with the FreeMotion S11.9s

I just got confirmation that the Life Time Athletic club, where I have a Sunday 90 min endurance class, will have 65 new FreeMotion S11.9 indoor cycles for my next class!

There had been a lot of rumors, but I couldn't get confirmation until today from our Group Fitness dept head.  I'll be meeting with the FreeMotion representative this Friday when they do their install.

It's about time. Two years ago I got all excited when two Schwinn AC performance bikes magically appeared in this studio… but then nothing more. Cue crickets chirping here.

I called Cameron Chinatti today and told asked her to help me with my first class and she has agreed to record a First Class With Power Audio PROfile later this week 🙂

Can't wait to update everyone about my experience.

Cool Picture From the ICI/PRO Conference

Mark Dalrymple from Cycling Fusion was the un-official photographer at the last ICI/PRO conference. He took some amazing pictures including this candid shot of Gene Nacey, Chuck Cali, Tom Scotto and myself while we were setting up the 100 Keiser m3s and FreeMotion S11.9 indoor cycles. I hadn't seen this one before and it's very cool. Mark has added a digital effect that appears similar to what was used in the movie “300”… now if we only had the 6 pack abs 🙂

Thanks for this Mark!

Congratulations Doug Rusho – New Master Instructor with Stages Indoor Cycling!

It's with great pleasure (and a bit of pride) that I get to announce ICI/PRO member and frequent contributor Doug Rusho has joined the Stages Indoor Cycling team as a Master Instructor!

ICI/PRO members have enjoyed a number of Doug's Audio PROfiles and he did a great job presenting at our last conference.

Doug's first official duties will be to assist his new boss, Cameron Chinatti on Saturday January 14th, for an Instructor Essentials Training.

Cameron, Doug and I have an interview scheduled for next week to discuss all of this 🙂

The location for this training is InMotion Cycling Studio in Sayville, NY. PRO member Nancy Bachety opened her new studio last month with her husband Frank. They both had met Cameron at the conference and this training is designed to get her Instructors up to speed with the FreeMotion S11.9 Indoor Cycles that Nancy and Frank first rode this past fall in Boston.

Open to all Instructors. Here is the information:
