Very Cool John, just posted two of my favorites for this year, Amma (ft. Sivaman), James Asher, Christine Collister and Trancestors, DJ Hoxider
This is so awesome! I’m listening to the first 65 submissions on Spotify.
No Spotify in Canada so here are a few favorites.
Beat and the Pulse
Feel it Break
Austra

I like to use this one for cadence work – pyramids or surges.
Break on Through (To the Other Side) [Remix]
BT vs. The Doors (single)
7:07
66 (132) bpm
My personal favorite for the year. Great for a big effort with lyrics to match.
What About Us
Future Memories
ATB
5:35
65 (130) bpm
This is the song that makes people perk up and ask about the band.
Right This Second
4×4=12
Deadmau5
7:50
95 (190) bpm
Fast flat or difficult hill – I find lots of uses for this one. It makes a great one song hill climb – you can feel yourself getting to the top and are ready for a fast downhill or the next climbing challenge.
Keep the songs coming!
Here are a few more songs that have great teaching moments:
Destiny by Syntax – starts slow with beautiful layers that build..very nice for climbing.
Sweet Disposition (Temper Trap) RAC remix found on Soundcloud
Great warmup/intro
Made For Each Other – Junkie XL – powerful climb or jumps on a hill – feel the beat….don’t count it…let it get inside you and dictate when you leave the saddle…
Overkill – Kosheen
No spotify in Australia.
Recently I’ve been choosing music where the lyrics
work for me, both with what I want participants ride (flats/climbs) and allows me to work with lyrics
Hang on (Digital Dog Extended mix), Plumb (multiple uses)
Take over Control, Afrojack Feat Eva-Simons (Flat road, tempo)
Pump it Up (United Nations Remix), Danzel (multiple uses)
Breathe, Lenny Kravitz (multiple uses)
Going Wrong, Armin Van Buuren (multiple uses)
I’m spoon feeding you….here’s another lengthy tasty morsel with loads of layers to coach:
Formula of Fear – Hybrid Mix – Hybrid
My vote would be “Sail” by Awolnation – such a cool song. Good for climbing.
NEW by Oakenfold: I’m Alive featuring Infected Mushroom.
The remixes were released in November. My favorite?
I’m Alive – System Nipel remix 7:54
Beatport or Itunes
“Walk” by Foo Fighters – great last song for sprint intervals.
Son of Flynn (Moby Remix) (6:32)– from TRON Legacy Remixed soundtrack.
That’s My Name (Harmonica Edit) (5:00) — Akcent
How You Like Me Now (3:37) — The Heavy. Great for resistance loading.
The Funk (4:38) — Royal Gigolos. Another great resistance loading song.
S-Curved (7:47) — Brooklyn Funk Essentials. Great for a climbing pyramid or tempo riding.
Here are a few happy Indie Songs…great for warmups to make everyone smile!
FADE INTO DARKNESS VOCAL CLUB MIX – Avicii 6:00
DIVE and HOURS by Tycho – anything by Tycho invokes images of endless coastlines and the warm sensation of sunshine on your back. Mixes are available here and there on Soundcloud, but originals are so incredibly beautiful.
Galaxy by Northern Room. How can anyone be sad after this?
Hurricane – 30 Seconds to Mars. Ok, so this isn’t happy, but it’s a very intense climbing song and doesn’t need much coaching….let the music get inside you.
One more!!
I’M ALIVE – Metric
song changes mid-way and a nice little drum beat kicks in.
Just completed a New Year’s Day Team ride with 7 instructors on stage! Best songs of the ride included:
High Roller – Crystal Method
Hazel (Ewen Pearson’s House Mix – Junior Boys)
Lights -(Bassnectar Remix) – Ellie Goulding
Dancing on my Own (Album Version Edit) – Robyn
Good Feeling – Flo Rida
Ritmo De Locos – Drumm Boys
