Shame some of the people in the clip have such poor form, especially when you are pitching ‘real’ riding.
I remember my last trip to WSSC and being surprised at how many master instructors had questionable form. In this case, it’s just regular students. Come to think of it, I can’t EVER remember being in a room filled with riders with lovely, perfect form. Seems like it’s part of the human condition… imperfections. It’s something we all share. Nice to know though, we all have the opportunity to get better.
Gino is right, who can say that she/he has ever have a class with perfect form rider ? Nobody.
I have given classes during one winter to a local cycling team, not all of them have perfect form; my job was to correct that as given them a good winter training.
One person need to have a perfect form, THE INSTRUCTOR
As Gino I was really sadly supprise by what I have seen the past 2 year at WSSC from instructor and Master trainer. That is what Jennifer try to change with ICIpro …
I agree. I feel pretty good about most of my students who have been riding with me for awhile, and have helped many improve their riding form. But there still are some who just don’t quite get it, or only get it some of the time, the other times they’re focused on other things and fall back into old habits. If you saw a video of my class, I would bet you could find a person or two or three who could probably improve. That’s why they’re not the instructor!
Pascal is right though – YOU the instructor must have perfect form. That might mean improving your fitness so you are able to ride with good form, or it might mean swallowing your pride and having someone analyze your form, or really looking closely at yourself in a mirror.
I film my self once a month to see how I am, what I say and what is my body language.
Last time, I just remark that something was not perfect … after having analysing it … I found that it was due to my legs length discrepancy; so nothing I can really change, I could use my Look pedal with shim under my cleat but it would always not be perfect …
Hey Pascal, same with me. I have a shorter leg so when looking at my hips from the back, they rock side to side. I do have a shim, but not enough to correct it – I’d have to shave off a little of my right leg to have perfect form! I’ll pass! 😉
It has been a breath of fresh air to have Jennifer lead the way to great information, profiles, music, feedback and inspiration’ Also, kudos to John for making it all happen!!!
We had THE “Everest ” Ride at our club and the MI from spin left a lot to be desired…but it was great learning about what not to do…
You guys ROCK!!!
Looking forward to Boston in the fall!!!!!
Last year I took over a class from an instructor that I have always had great respect for…he is perfection…truly! As I walked around the room during the first class, I was absolutely struck with what I was seeing. Not a single stray elbow or knee, no rocking…just fluid and loose and magical. Every rider. Every single one. Perfect.
