Continuing this week's focus on "selling endurance" - please enjoy this Podcast from our archives featuring Spinning Master Instructor Janet Toussaint.
Sometime I feel like a parasite! I get a hold of a Master Instructor and I'm not satisfied until I have sucked as much information from him or her as possible.
Janet Toussaint has some great ideas on how to sell the concept of Endurance Training to your class - we take this discussion even deeper than the last one.

One of the instructor trainers here at Life Time is forever reminding us to “give them what they want, and sneak in some of what they need.”
Taught an endurance class this morning with Janet’s guidance. It was amazing! And I sweat way more than normal! The class enjoyed it too, only a few who were bored. However I think they could have pushed a little harder while working in their hr zone. Thanks Janet!
This is fantastic education-thank you! If you didn’t want to do an entire endurance class (60 minutes), would it be appropriate to add one track of intervals, maybe between 2 long endurance efforts, or at the very end? There would of course be appropriate warm up, cool down and recovery! 🙂
Also, what about varying cadence a little over the course of an 11 minute effort-before listening to this podcast, I was thinking I’d “keep them busy” by having them increase & decrease their cadence slightly every minute or so. Of course I’ll be using the symphony analogy, but I wonder if they would be too busy if I incorporated both of those elements.
Nina I don’t feel there’s much you can do that’s “wrong” with these endurance classes. Making small changes of cadence can come as a welcome relief to many.
