What the @#$%^& was Spotify thinking by removing the total playlist time in the latest update? The number of followers has zero value to me when I'm building a playlist.
Last week my Spotify displayed this message offering to update, which I regrettably did.
Now I have no clue about the total length of the playlist. Chris Hawthorne and I are trying to find a work-around, but for now I suggest using the little X in the right hand corner of the update notice if you haven't updated yet.

ah, glad it is not just me…thought I had punched a wrong button somewhere…happy green day to all….
I know! I have been so frustrated this week without the timer. I have been using a time calculator that someone posted on Facebook, but it does take an extra step that we didn’t have to so before.. The calculator is here: grun1.com/utils/timeCalc.html. Hope spotify brings the feature back for us!
While looking for a possible solution to this issue I stumble into several comments dating as far back as 3 years ago (https://getsatisfaction.com/spotify/topics/where_has_the_total_play_time_in_a_playlist_gone) where people got really mad about their total playlist time being gone or not being accurate at all (http://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas/0-8-8-Bring-back-total-playlist-length/idi-p/227094).
This is the problem when someone else controls your music and how do you play it – you are not in control.
I am still not convinced that Spotify is a good thing for it’s users.
Yes Alan you are right about losing control. [your comment didn’t post right away because any comment with a link is held for approval – damn spammers]
I find it interesting how these changes with Spotify happen at different times, in different locations. We are experiencing this just now – and a number of the comments to the post you list go back to December.
