Our organization is looking closely at the greenrevolution technology for one of our three cycle studios. I’ll be interested to hear your interview and comments. I have several concerns about the devices and how they motivate participants using measurement (if they pedal faster will they see more electricity being generated?).
I will be posting this interview later today. The short answer to your question Judy is: Yes, they will generate more electricity (expressed as watts, which is the measurement of Power) if they pedal faster. The longer answer is your concerns about people just pedaling very fast will end soon after people see how little extra power they create by simply pedaling faster. Although I haven’t ridden a Spinning bike with the egreenrevolution generator, I’m confident riders will experience something similar to the feel of the Magnetic resistance bikes from Keiser and Schwinn. Contrasted with the common friction based bikes (where the pedals will get easier as cadence increases) Magnetic resistance increases with RPM. This is also true for electric generators and the egreenrevolution generator will replace the friction resistance. Explained another way, with a Spinner Bike the pedals get heaver, the slower you turn them… the opposite will happen once you add the egreenrevolution generator.
