The 60-minute-a-day recommendation, released online Tuesday in the Journal of the American Medical Assn., is aimed at women of normal weight who don't want to diet but do want to avoid gaining weight over time. Most Americans gain about 1.5 pounds a year between age 25 and 55. Read the rest here.

I heard this on NPR yesterday. My first thought was that it might not be a good thing for the fitness industry. Some women might hear this and throw up their hands and say, “No wonder it’s not working! There’s no way I can do that, so I might as well not even bother. ”
I hope that won’t be the case…
I passed this along to my students last week, and all my regulars agreed this hits the nail on the head. For many people, the ones we see in classes year after year, it’s not really about the exercise. How can we get more people to this point?

wow I have many older students and I myself at 39 can feel I have to work harder, dieting is no fun!
