Here is a refreshing bit of good news: two employees of the Santa Monica Spectrum Athletic club's quick action and an AED saved the life of a participant who was having a heart attack during a class last week. Although they don't identify Tracy Smith as the Instructor in the class, based on her interview in this video I'm guessing that she was. Tracy, along with another employee Amaud Mitchell quickly performed CPR and then administered the AED, saving the man's life. Hats off to both of you:)

John,
Thank you for including this post, John.
I’m due for recertification this weekend.
Sometimes we forget how crucial it is to
have enough training on using an AED machine
for saving lives. Not only must we be excellent
group fitness instructors but we must also feel
confident enough to use the AED machines and
CPR. Kudos to the Tracy and Amaud.

You bet we do! At the Y where I teach, every employee is required to be certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer including AED and how to administer O2. Even if it’s not required where you teach you should get it. You too could save someone’s life some day. Way to go Tracy and Amaud!
